Set in a colonial mansion built over an Inca ceremonial court on Cusco's Plaza de las Nazarenas, this museum presents pre-Columbian objects selected as much for artistic merit as archaeological value. Its curated galleries display gold, silver, shell, wood and ceramic works from the Nazca, Moche, Chimú, Wari and Inca cultures, arranged to highlight design and craftsmanship. The building itself preserves Inca stonework in its foundations. A courtyard restaurant and evening lighting make it a refined stop among the city's museums.
