A short alley in the Cayo Hueso neighbourhood turned into a shrine to Afro-Cuban culture by artist Salvador González Escalona. Walls are painted with vivid murals referencing Santería deities, and the passage is filled with sculptures assembled from bathtubs, propellers and salvaged metal. On Sunday afternoons the alley hosts live rumba drumming and dance that draws crowds of residents and travellers. Beyond the music it functions as a living exhibition of Yoruba-derived religion and community art in the heart of the capital.
