This shaded park near the aqueduct is the principal green space of central Morelia, laid out in the nineteenth century with wide paths, fountains and stands of tall trees. Families gather beneath its canopy on weekends, and its walkways link several museums, including collections of local painting and natural history housed in surrounding buildings. Monuments and a small artificial stream add interest to the grounds. Bordered by the arches of the historic aqueduct, the park offers a restful counterpoint to the busy streets of the colonial core.
