Built in the early eighteenth century for a convent of Augustinian nuns, this church is prized for its exuberantly carved twin stone portals, among the finest baroque facades in Guadalajara. Vines, angels, saints and a figure of Saint Christopher crowd the doorways in dense relief. The single tower and tiled dome rise over a quiet residential street west of the cathedral. Inside, gilded altarpieces continue the ornate theme, and the adjoining convent buildings recall the enclosed religious life once lived behind these walls.
