Set in a former seminary of the eighteenth century, this regional museum presents the natural history and human past of western Mexico across two floors of galleries arranged around an arcaded courtyard. Displays range from fossil mammoth skeletons and meteorites to pre-Hispanic ceramics and colonial religious painting. The baroque building itself, with its stone arcades and central patio, is among the colonial structures facing the cathedral square, offering a broad introduction to the culture of Jalisco.
