Château Dufresne is an opulent Beaux-Arts mansion in Montreal, built in the 1910s as a shared residence for two wealthy brothers and their families. Its twin wings, richly decorated with murals, marble and carved woodwork, illustrate the taste of the French-Canadian bourgeoisie of the early twentieth century. Now a museum, it preserves lavish period interiors and hosts exhibitions on decorative arts and design. The building stands near the Olympic site in the east of the city, a survivor of an era of grand private homes.
