The Montréal Tower rises above the Olympic Stadium built for the 1976 Summer Games, an inclined concrete mast about 165 metres tall and often cited as the tallest leaning tower in the world. A funicular runs up the curved outer face of the tower to an observation deck near the top, giving views over the stadium, the surrounding parkland and the eastern part of the city. The tower was designed to support the stadium's retractable roof by cables, within a complex that also includes a biodome and botanical gardens.
