Spadina Museum is a grand historic house and garden on the hill above downtown Toronto, next to the well-known castle nearby. Built in the 1860s and expanded by a wealthy financier's family, the mansion is restored to the 1920s and 1930s, complete with period furnishings, early electric fittings and a working kitchen. Costumed guides interpret the lives of the family and the servants who ran the household between the wars. Formal Victorian and Edwardian gardens surround the house on its elevated escarpment site.
