On Santa Fe's Museum Hill, this institution holds one of the world's largest collections of folk art, spanning textiles, toys, masks, ceramics, and religious objects from more than one hundred countries. Its centerpiece is the Girard Wing, where thousands of handmade figures are arranged in dense, imaginative dioramas of villages, markets, and festivals assembled by designer Alexander Girard. Other galleries focus on Hispanic New Mexican devotional art and rotating international shows.
