This Federal-style mansion in Albany's Arbor Hill neighborhood was built in 1798 for Abraham Ten Broeck, a Revolutionary War general and city mayor. Set on a hillside above the Hudson, the brick house passed through several prominent families before becoming a museum operated by the local historical society. Its restored rooms display period furnishings, decorative arts, and exhibits on Albany's history, and a rediscovered nineteenth-century wine cellar remains a curiosity.
