This ornate movie palace and performing arts venue on Peachtree Street in Atlanta opened in 1929, its exotic Moorish and Egyptian Revival design intended to evoke a distant palace. The auditorium ceiling is painted as a night sky with twinkling stars and drifting clouds projected above the audience, while minarets and onion domes crown the exterior. Saved from demolition in the 1970s by a grassroots campaign, it now hosts touring musicals, concerts, and film screenings.
