Piedmont Park is the principal urban park of Atlanta, laid out on the site of a former farm and fairground that hosted expositions in the 1880s and 1890s. Redesigned by the Olmsted firm, it spreads across rolling lawns, a lake and woodland near the city's Midtown district. The park hosts festivals, concerts and a farmers' market, and adjoins the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Its open meadows offer skyline views, and paths link it to the wider BeltLine trail network encircling the city.
