The seat of Namibia's parliament, a colonial-era administrative building whose German nickname means 'ink palace', a wry reference to the paperwork of the officials who once worked there. Completed in 1913, it sits amid landscaped gardens of palms, bougainvillea and jacaranda in the heart of Windhoek. Its restrained facade and shaded verandas reflect the architecture of the period, and statues of national leaders stand in the grounds. The building and its gardens remain a calm and dignified centrepiece of the capital's government district.
