This museum in central Khartoum holds the country's foremost collection of antiquities, spanning the Kushite, Meroitic, Christian Nubian and Islamic eras. Its grounds display entire temples relocated from the Nile valley before the flooding of Lake Nasser, including reconstructed structures from Buhen and Semna. Inside are statues of Kushite kings, painted frescoes from Nubian churches and artefacts from the pyramids of Meroë. The collection illuminates the long, often overlooked civilisations of the Sudanese Nile.
