The metropolitan cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Yaoundé sits on a rise near the city centre, its pale twin towers visible across the surrounding valleys. Built in the mid-twentieth century, it blends restrained modern lines with traditional church proportions and serves as the seat of the archbishop. Inside, tall arcades lead the eye toward the sanctuary, and the nave fills for major feast days. The forecourt gathers processions, and the hilltop offers a broad outlook over the capital.
