Museum of Black Civilisations

The Museum of Black Civilisations opened in Dakar in 2018 as one of the largest institutions dedicated to the history and creativity of the African world. Its circular design was inspired by the traditional round dwellings of southern Senegal, and its vast open galleries can display thousands of works. Exhibitions range from prehistoric origins and metallurgy to contemporary art and questions of restitution.
