Parc de Hann is a large park and zoological garden in the Hann district of Dakar, set beside a bay on the Atlantic coast. Established in the colonial era, its grounds combine a botanical forest of tropical trees with the country's main zoo, sheltering lions, primates and native and exotic animals. Shaded avenues and a relict patch of coastal woodland give it ecological as well as recreational value. Long a favourite family destination in the capital, it has been the subject of renovation efforts to modernise its animal enclosures and gardens.
