The Mahkama du Pacha is a grand civic building in Casablanca's Habous quarter, completed in 1952 to serve as a courthouse and reception hall for the city's pasha. Behind a long ochre facade lie dozens of rooms and courtyards decorated with carved cedar ceilings, wrought ironwork, sculpted plaster and vast expanses of zellij, executed by Moroccan master craftsmen. Combining Hispano-Moorish and Andalusian styles, it opens to visitors on a limited basis and showcases the peak of protectorate-era traditional workmanship.
