A landmark tripod tower in Ashgabat built to commemorate Turkmenistan's declared status of permanent neutrality, originally topped by a rotating gilded statue of the country's first president. Relocated to the southern edge of the capital, it now rises around 95 metres with an observation deck reached by lift. Clad in white marble and gold, it exemplifies the grandiose architecture for which Ashgabat is known. From the upper platform visitors gain sweeping views over the marble-clad city and surrounding desert.
