A large mosque in central Ashgabat built in an Ottoman-inspired style, its cascade of grey domes and four pencil-thin minarets modelled on classical Turkish architecture. Named after the father of the founder of the Ottoman dynasty, it was completed with Turkish support in the 1990s. The spacious prayer hall beneath the central dome is decorated with calligraphy and carpets. Its silhouette stands out among the marble monuments of the capital, offering a distinctly Turkish architectural presence.
