This temple beside a park of the same name near the royal palace was founded in the fifteenth century and has close historical ties to the monarchy and the reformed Buddhist order. Its grounds are notable for a cluster of colourful stupas, some elaborately decorated, holding the remains of royal figures and senior monks. Ornate prayer halls with gilded roofs and painted interiors stand among manicured gardens, and the adjoining public park is a pleasant green space used for state ceremonies.
