One of the oldest temples in the capital, this monastery near the Independence Monument was founded in the fifteenth century as a place for meetings between Cambodian and Sri Lankan monks, a heritage reflected in its name. Its grounds hold a large golden stupa, ornate prayer halls decorated with vivid murals of the Buddha's life, and shaded courtyards where residents gather for meditation sessions open to visitors. Rebuilt after the country's turbulent recent history, it remains an active centre of practice.
