Sundarijal is a scenic gorge and waterfall on the northeastern rim of the Kathmandu Valley where the Bagmati River tumbles through forested slopes before feeding the city's water supply. A network of stone steps and paths climbs beside cascades and old reservoir works into the Shivapuri hills, making it a favoured starting point for treks toward Chisapani and Helambu. Weekend crowds come to bathe in the pools and enjoy cooler air. Visitors seeking a short outing walk the lower trails past the falls, while trekkers use it as a gateway to longer.
