One of the oldest surviving colonial buildings in Colombo's Fort district, this structure dates to the Dutch period and once served as a hospital for personnel of the East India Company. Its thick walls, courtyards and shaded verandahs have been restored to house restaurants, cafes and shops, making it a popular dining precinct. The building illustrates the practical colonial architecture adapted to the tropical climate, transformed from historic infirmary to lively heritage complex.
