This monument honours the ancient Tamil poet-philosopher Thiruvalluvar, author of the revered Tirukkural. Built in the 1970s in the form of a temple chariot, its stone tower rises above an auditorium said to be among the largest in Asia, while inscribed panels reproduce the couplets of the classic text. A shallow reflecting pool fronts the structure, and a life-size statue of the poet sits within the chariot. The complex celebrates Tamil literary heritage and serves as a venue for cultural gatherings in central Chennai.
