The oldest surviving Western church in Hong Kong, an Anglican cathedral in Central completed in 1849 in a Gothic-revival style of pale stone and pointed arches. Set on the last piece of freehold land in the territory, it endured wartime damage during the Japanese occupation, when it was used as a social club. Its cool, timber-roofed nave and stained-glass windows offer a quiet retreat amid the surrounding skyscrapers. Long a focus of the colonial community, it remains an active parish today.
