A landscaped downtown park commemorating the victims of the February 28 Incident of 1947, a violent crackdown that shaped modern Taiwanese identity. Originally laid out in the Japanese era, it contains ponds, pavilions, and a central memorial monument alongside the National Taiwan Museum. The associated 228 Memorial Museum, housed in a former radio station, documents the events and their long suppression under martial law. Shaded paths, a Chinese-style arch bridge, and mature banyan trees make it a quiet refuge in the city centre.
