Seoul Museum of Art

The principal municipal art museum of the capital, housed behind the preserved neoclassical facade of the former Supreme Court building near City Hall. Its collection and rotating exhibitions span modern and contemporary Korean and international art, with a notable holding of works by the pioneering woman painter Chun Kyung-ja. The institution runs several branch venues, but the main building's blend of colonial-era architecture and current programming makes it a fixture of Seoul's cultural life, often with free admission.
