This octagonal hall sits on an island in Shinobazu Pond, reached by a causeway and dedicated to a goddess of music, wealth, and good fortune. Rebuilt after wartime destruction, its bright roof rises above one of the city's largest urban lotus beds, which blanket the water in pink blooms through the summer. The surrounding pond, a remnant of an ancient lagoon, hosts migratory birds and rental boats, and the temple's monuments include memorials donated by trades from spectacles to fugu, reflecting the city's guild traditions.
