A tranquil park and shrine in western Chengdu marking where the great Tang poet Du Fu lived for several years after fleeing wartime unrest, composing many of his most admired verses. Though the original hut is long gone, later dynasties built memorial halls, a reconstructed thatched dwelling and gardens threaded with streams, bamboo and plum trees. Steles throughout the grounds preserve his poems and portraits. Visitors wander the shaded paths, pause at the recreated cottage and study exhibits on the poet's hardships and legacy.
