One of the city's oldest natural science museums, located near the southern altar complex and popular with families. Its halls display dinosaur skeletons and fossils, exhibits on the evolution of plants and animals, and specimens illustrating human origins. A darkened marine section and preserved biological specimens add to the range of the collection. Founded in the mid-twentieth century, it played an early role in popular science education in China, and its large mounted skeletons make it a reliable indoor destination.
