A large park in the southern city named for a historic pavilion whose title, drawn from a Tang poem, evokes contented ease. The seventeenth-century pavilion was long a favored gathering spot for scholars and later a meeting place for early revolutionaries, giving the grounds literary and political associations. Around a central lake the park now gathers reconstructed famous pavilions from across China, gardens, and rockeries. Boating, willow-lined paths, and seasonal flower displays make it a popular local retreat.
