Set on a wooded island in the Neva delta, this elegant Neoclassical palace was rebuilt in the early nineteenth century by Carlo Rossi as a summer residence for the mother of the emperor. Its refined white-columned facades face landscaped parkland with ponds, pavilions and old trees that make the whole island a public leisure ground. Restored interiors display decorative arts and host cultural events, while the park draws walkers, cyclists and families year round.
