Set in the apartment building where writer Mikhail Bulgakov once lived, this Moscow museum celebrates the author of The Master and Margarita and the fantastical world of his fiction. The so-called Bad Apartment, number fifty, features in the novel and is now filled with period furnishings, manuscripts, photographs and playful references to his devil-in-Moscow satire. The stairwell leading up is famously covered in visitors' graffiti and drawings inspired by the book, and literary events draw devoted readers.
