One of the finest Ottoman monuments in Skopje, this early sixteenth-century mosque stands near the old bazaar and the fortress. Its large single dome, slender minaret, and portico of smaller cupolas exemplify classical Ottoman design, while a walled garden shelters the tomb of the founder's daughter. Restored after earthquake damage, the mosque retains carved decoration and a serene courtyard with a fountain. A nearby terrace offers views over the historic quarter and the modern city spreading along the Vardar below.
