The Old Town Hall of Wrocław is one of the finest examples of Gothic civic architecture in central Europe, standing at the centre of the market square. Built and enlarged over three centuries, it combines a richly carved eastern gable, an astronomical clock and an ornate stone façade dense with sculpted figures. Inside, the vaulted Great Hall and council chambers once served the governing burghers. Today the building houses a city museum, while its cellar is among the oldest restaurants in Europe.
