Waldemarsudde occupies a scenic point on Stockholm's Djurgården island and was the home and studio of Prince Eugen, a painter and art patron of the royal family. Bequeathed to the state, the mansion and its gallery display his landscape paintings alongside a broader collection of Nordic art he assembled. The grounds descend to the water with sculpture, flowerbeds and an old windmill, offering views across the harbour approaches. The combination of an artist's residence, a public gallery and a waterfront garden makes it distinctive.
