Skeppsholmen is a small island in central Stockholm long associated with the navy and now home to cultural institutions and a relaxed waterfront atmosphere. Historic barracks and workshops have been converted into museums of modern art and design, while a moored full-rigged ship serves as a youth hostel along its quays. Bridges connect it to the surrounding districts, and its paths offer wide views over the harbour toward the old town and palace.
