Set in a landscaped park on the slope above Lake Zurich, the Rietberg is the only museum in Switzerland devoted to the art of Asia, Africa, the Americas and Oceania. Its collections gather Chinese bronzes, Japanese prints, Indian sculpture, Himalayan painting and African masks, much assembled by the industrialist Eduard von der Heydt. The historic villas that house it were joined in 2007 by an underground extension entered through a glass pavilion among the trees. Concerts and tea ceremonies fill the park in warmer months.
