One of the twin churches that frame the entrance to Via del Corso from Piazza del Popolo, this Baroque basilica is often called the church of the artists for the Masses it holds for the creative community. Built in the seventeenth century with Bernini's involvement, it and its near-identical neighbour create a symmetrical gateway to the three streets radiating from the square. A subtle difference in dome shape, oval versus round, resolves the unequal plots on which they stand.

Where next?
