Treptower Park is a large riverside park along the Spree in south-eastern Berlin, laid out in the 1870s as a public green space for the growing city. Its most striking feature is the Soviet War Memorial, a monumental complex honouring Red Army soldiers who fell in the 1945 Battle of Berlin, where many are buried. A towering bronze soldier holding a child and crushing a swastika crowns a mound above the graves, flanked by sculpted sarcophagi. Beyond the memorial, tree-lined paths, lawns, and boat rentals draw families and strollers.
