In the Passy district near the Seine, this wine museum occupies medieval vaulted cellars once used by monks who cultivated vineyards on the surrounding slopes. The stone galleries display old presses, barrels, tools and tasting equipment illustrating the history of French viticulture and winemaking. Wax figures and reconstructed scenes evoke the life of vintners through the ages. Tucked below street level, the atmospheric cellars recall the days when wine was grown within the city itself.
