This large landscaped park stretches along the River Taff from the city centre toward Llandaff, occupying former grounds of Cardiff Castle. The land was given to the city by the Bute family in the 1940s, and Victorian designer Andrew Pettigrew shaped much of the planting. Today it holds an arboretum with champion trees, a stone circle raised for the National Eisteddfod, and riverside paths popular with walkers and cyclists. Its position beside the castle and the Millennium Stadium makes it central to city life.
