Camera Obscura and World of Illusions

Housed in a tower near the top of the Royal Mile, this attraction centres on a Victorian camera obscura installed in the 1850s that projects live moving images of the surrounding streets onto a viewing table. Around it are several floors of optical illusions, mirror mazes, holograms and interactive light exhibits added over the decades. A rooftop terrace offers panoramic views across the Old Town toward the castle. The mix of historic optics and playful trickery draws a steady stream of families and curious visitors.
