Little Venice is a tranquil district in west London where the Regent's Canal meets the Grand Union Canal at a broad, leafy pool lined with white stucco villas and moored houseboats. Its name, popularly credited to the poet Robert Browning who lived nearby, reflects the calm waterside atmosphere so unlike the surrounding city. Waterbus services glide from here towards Camden and London Zoo, passing through a tunnel and along shaded banks. Cafés and colourful narrowboats give the area a gentle, beloved charm.
