Tucked off Fleet Street, St Bride's is a Christopher Wren church long associated with printing and journalism, earning it the nickname the journalists' church. Its most celebrated feature is the tiered wedding-cake spire, said to have inspired the shape of tiered wedding cakes after a local baker copied it. Bombing in the Second World War revealed earlier churches and Roman remains beneath the floor, now in a small crypt museum. Memorials to reporters and printers stretch back centuries.
