Church and Dominican Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie with “The Last Supper” by Leonardo da Vinci

One wall in Milan changed painting. In the refectory of the Dominican convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie — a complex begun in 1463 and reworked by Bramante late in the 15th century — Leonardo da Vinci created The Last Supper between 1495 and 1497, a masterpiece without rival that opened a new era in art. Church, convent and mural were inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage in 1980.
