Funchal Cathedral

This late-15th-century cathedral is Madeira's oldest church, built from local basalt and whitewashed plaster on the orders of King Manuel I. Its Mudéjar-inspired ceiling of native cedar, inlaid with ivory, is one of the finest wooden interiors in Portugal.
