The two holiest places of the Bahá'i religion stand in Israel: the Shrine of the Báb on Haifa's slopes and, near Acre, the Shrine of Bahá'u'lláh, each set among gardens, associated buildings and monuments. With further sites at seven locations across Haifa and Western Galilee, they form the destinations of Bahá'i pilgrimage — a living tradition whose spiritual depth UNESCO recognised with World Heritage inscription in 2008.
