Komodo National Park

Dragons are real on Komodo. Around 5,700 giant monitor lizards — found nowhere else on Earth — prowl these volcanic islands, their bulk and aggression earning them the name Komodo dragons and the enduring interest of evolutionary science. Rugged hills of parched savannah, dotted with thorny scrub, fall away to blinding white beaches and coral seas of surging blue. Komodo National Park was inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage in 1991.
